IMDA Strategy & Priorities

Paraic Curtis, Chairman IMDA 2011-2012; Review 2012 (IMDA Chairman 2012 Vice President Endoscopy Division for EMEA Boston Scientific)

Paraic Curtis talks about the scope and extent of the medical industry in Ireland in 2012 and outlines the key activities that IMDA has focused on during 2012 towards the implementation of the four pillars of our strategy. The four pillars are Ecosystem Development, Entrepreneurship, Business Model Foresight and Member Services.

John O’Dea (IMDA Chairman 2013 and CEO Crospon) - Irish Medical Devices Association Looking Ahead to 2013:

John O'Dea looking forward to working with the board, membership and executive of IMDA to progress the objectives in our 4 year strategy and announcing new IMDA Vice Chairman Bill Doherty, VP EMEA Cook Medical. John also encourages any interested people from our member organisations to take part on these committees. Not only is this an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our medical device community here in Ireland but certainly I have often received feedback from the SME members of these committees as to how useful it is in building relationships with counterparts in the multinational sector

IMDA Strategy

IMDA is a proactive membership organisation with over 150 member organisations located throughout the island of Ireland. Led by a board of 15 industry leaders, and facilitated by a dedicated professional executive staff, our working groups, forums and task forces are the primary enablers of our strategy. As early as mid-2010, we embarked on the development of the next phase of our strategic plan, which entailed a period of intense review and consultation throughout 2011. IMDA Board and members identified a high-level strategy, with four pivotal areas of opportunity for the Irish medical technologies industry to focus on for the next three years, thus crafting our strategic approach to steer us towards an exciting future for the IMDA and our members, as illustrated in the diagram below.

IMDA member organisations actively participated in the development of this plan and we are committed to continuing this participatory approach in pursuit of our strategic objectives. The key strategic objectives are outlined under the strategic themes below:
